Welcome to 2023

Welcome to a new year for SPEN AODS. Last year's production of The ADDAMS FAMILY got us back into the swing of our famous November Musical Production and we hope to have an equally successful year in 2023. We have announced that our November musical this year will be Dolly Parton's 9 to 5 The Musical which is packed with amazing songs and is a real treat of a show! Our youth society S.A.Y.S are putting on a production of WE WILL ROCK YOU in July, please check out their FACEBOOK page for all the details. We welcomed many new members to the society for the Addams Family and we love seeing new faces so please use the contact details at the bottom of the page if you have an interest in being a part of one of this year's shows. We pride ourselves on being a very friendlty society and some of the performers for Addams had never stepped foot on a stage before.

For the full synopsis together with full details of the cast for this show please visit https://www.mtishows.co.uk/9-to-5-the-musical  where you will be able to enjoy reading the storyline and also the full description of each part.

AUDITIONS  -  will take place on WEDNESDAY EVENING,  22ND MARCH, 2023, at our rehearsal rooms SCHOLES VILLAGE CENTRE, 9, FOLDINGS ROAD, SCHOLES, CLECKHEATON, BD19 6DF and application to audition should be made via our email address spenaods@gmail.com

Unfortunately, due to Cleckheaton Town Hall still being repaired, we will not be putting on a May show. We have been based in Cleckheaton for the past 100+ years and would like to keep it that way, although Batley Town Hall was a beautiful venue, we want to perform our next show 'on home turf' so are waiting for repairs of the town hall to be complete.

Venue CHANGED

Due to structural damage to Cleckheaton Town Hall, we have had to relocate our production of The Addams Family  to Batley Town Hall.

All tickets previously booked will be honoured according to the seating plan. Thank you for your understanding.

Rehearsals Have Begun!

HAPPY NEW YEAR and welcome BACK!

Our President/Chairman, Robert, has announced that, after almost two years, we have been given the go-ahead from the rights-holders to present our May and November 2022 productions – ‘The Vicar Of Dibley’ (which we had just begun rehearsing in 2020 when we were locked-down) and ‘The Addams Family – The Musical’.   Both these productions were previously announced to our members but required permission from the rights-holders to perform in 2022, particularly as ‘The Addams Family – The Musical’ is now on tour professionally and to appear at Bradford Alhambra next month.

Brassed Off

Congratulations to everybody involved in our most recent production that ran from 14-16th May in Cleckheaton Town Hall. Brassed off closed on the Friday night to a packed out town hall audience. Everybody involved in the show worked incredibly hard and the atmosphere in the emotional moments of the play could have been cut with a knife.

The Clifton and Lightcliffe band sounded fantastic in the Town Hall and the coupling of great acting talent from Spenborough Amateurs and the Musical talent of the band made it an unforgettable show

More pictures will be uploaded to our galleries soon so watch this space!

The winner of the Reg Vinnicombe Salver for their production of "Evita" in November 2018 is Cleckheaton & Spenborough Amateur Operatic Society!

This show was selected by Les Smith, Regional Councillor, as the one he felt most excelled in all areas of production. The award was presented at the Annual Dinner at Gala Weekend.
Les has seen 104 shows in the last 12 months so it is a great achievement. Well done to all involved.
